Texas Hill Country lifestyle brand · original apparel, curated gear, and insider guides

Our Story

Born in the
Hill Country

A modern field guide to the Texas Hill Country, combining practical local resources, curated gear, and original products rooted in the region.

More Than a Brand

Hill Country Gear started with a simple idea: the Texas Hill Country deserves a resource that captures what makes this region special. Not just the landmarks, but the feeling. A practical, trustworthy guide to the trails, rivers, towns, gear, and everyday experiences that make this region worth exploring. The golden hour light at Enchanted Rock. The first cold splash into the Guadalupe on a July afternoon. The quiet of a back road through ranch country at sunset.

Hill Country Gear dates back to 2016, when it began as a resource guide and gear rental concept built around helping people easily explore the Texas Hill Country. We now make original apparel inspired by the places and moments that define Hill Country life, and we curate outdoor gear from brands we trust. But the larger goal is to build a modern field guide for the region: accurate, informative articles, useful maps, practical recommendations, and place-based products that feel like a natural extension of the same mission.

What We’re Building

We write the guides and resources we wish existed when we first started exploring. We want this site to be useful whether you buy something or not. If you're looking for a better hike, a swimming spot, a small-town stop, or the right gear for a Hill Country weekend, the content should stand on its own. Commerce helps support the work, but usefulness comes first.

That means creating guides we would actually want to use, recommending gear with a clear reason behind it, and making products that reflect a real connection to the region instead of generic souvenir-shop branding. The standard is simple: be specific, be honest, and make it worth your time.

Based in Texas

We're based in the Texas Hill Country, and everything we do is rooted in this landscape. Our designs are inspired by real places. Our guides are shaped by local knowledge and trusted research. Our gear picks reflect the terrain, weather, and pace of Hill Country adventure.

Hill Country Gear is part of Harder Labs. Harder Labs builds amazing things to help people, and is operating at Harder.dev.
